The updates just keep on coming. Our team has been busy improving the OptimizePress platform and it’s that time again to run through some of the updates and explain what the team have been doing.

In this blog post we are looking at some of the new features rolled into OptimizePress 2.5 and OptimizeMember 1.2.0 and they include:

  • Live Editor Performance
  • Large Fonts
  • Author Bio Box
  • Already Subscribed Feature
  • WYSIWYG Editor
  • OptimizeMember

Check on the NEW UPDATES video below explaining the new features. (you can skip down and read about the updates).

Live Editor Performance

We have poured a lot of extra development time into the LiveEditor. Optimised loading of scripts, styles and images all of which combine to make LiveEditor much, much faster to use.

The work behind the scenes has also cleaned up how your pages are produced making them load a little quicker for your site visitors.

A technical term is Modularised loading. This means OptimizePress now loads only the parts of the system that are necessary for the task at hand.

Some LiveEditor geek stats:

An empty Live Editor page before update:
380 Requests | 3.4 MB transferred | DomContentLoaded: 12.35 s | Load: 23.08 s

An empty Live Editor page after update:
50 Requests | 710 KB transferred | DomContentLoaded: 7.38 s | Load: 13.48 s

Stats Translated to layman terms = Quicker LiveEditor! :-)

Large Fonts

One common request you wanted was an increase in the fonts on your pages. We looked into a few options for this and ended up increasing the fonts sizes in twenties.

If we were to take the sizes using each numerical figure to 250, you would be scrolling the page forever.

In the future, we may look at changing this feature to allow number inputs rather than scrolling.

Larger fonts.

The large fonts are best used in short catchy headlines.

You may find you need to change the font style or add some letter spacing to get the perfect look for your chosen font style.

There’s no right or wrong way to design your landing pages, be creative, use your imagination, track what works and test everything.

Yes, even test font sizes and colours.

Author Bio Box

After you saw us using the «author bio box» on this blog we had numerous requests asking for it to be added to the OptimizePress platform.

The author bio is a great way to connect with your readers, but it shouldn’t be about you, strange as that might sound.

It should benefit the reader and explain who you are and why you are qualified to be writing the article.

One of the first steps to creating an author bio box is having an image of yourself added to your Gravatar.com account.

Go to Gravatar, sign up if you don’t already have a WordPress.com account, and upload your first image.

What is Gravatar?

Gravatar is the little image your see across many sites, mostly on blog comments, that get’s automatically pulled in from the user Gravatar account.

Example of your Gravatar image.

The Gravatar image is linked to an email address you own. When you create an account, you add your email address, confirm you own the email, upload your image and it is linked it to the email address.

Once that’s complete your image will appear on sites where you have registered using that email.

That is assuming the site pulls in profile images from Gravatar.com.

Now back to the author box…

The author box setting is part of WordPress and used by many themes. To add you bio go to Users > Edit a user > About the user

You can write your bio in this section:

The author bio section.

Once you enter your details, scroll down click update profile and it will appear at the bottom of your blog posts like this example:

Example of the default styled author bio.

Depending on what fonts you have already set in your OptimizePress Theme you may want to play around with the box design a little more.

Never fear, we have a little piece of code you can play with if you want to style your author box to match your own design.

Custom Author Box CSS

We have provided a small piece of CSS code you can use to style your author box. There are comments in the code (/*change the colour */) to show you what you can change.

Copy all or only the styles you want from the following code:

/* adds round effect to image */
img.avatar.avatar-75.photo {
border-radius: 50%;

/* Font size for bio text */
.op-author-description p {
font-size: 15px;

/* Box Background CSS */
.op-author-info {
padding: 20px;
background: #f9f9f9; /*change the colour */
margin-bottom: 35px;
margin-top: 20px;

/* Change the box the style */
.op-author-info {
padding: 20px;
background: #f9f9f9;
margin-bottom: 35px;
margin-top: 20px;
border: 1px solid; /* solid border */
border-radius: 3px; /* rounded corner */
border-color: #ddd;

Next navigate to Blog Settings > Modules > Expand Other Scripts

Other scripts in blog settings.

Next choose Custom CSS and paste the code in the text area:

If you used all the CSS code your author box will look like this:

Already Subscribed

The Already Subscribed feature allows you to redirect those emails subscribers who try to sign up to an email list they are already subscribed to. The redirect part will send them to a page of your choice.

When would you use it?

This feature would be useful to remind a user:

  • They have already subscribed and their free gift is on it’s way.
  • Reminding the user to confirm their email.
  • Provide steps on how to check their junk mail to look for a confirmation email.
  • Sending the user directly to the download page for a free gift or product.

This feature is optional, it’s not available for OfficeAuto Pilot, Ontrport and Maropost. You can still use your list service page or you can create you own page and keep the user on your site.

You will see the Already Subscribed field under the Thank You Page URL field.

The WYSIWYG editor has been completely recoded to minimize page loading request inside the LiveEditor.

OptimizePress now uses the WordPress editor as default, which means better compatibility performance when using this for writing text.

OptimizeMember 1.2.0

When we devote time to improving OptimizePress we are always looking at ways to make it easier for you to build membership sites and sell protected downloads.

The latest update to OptimizeMember included:

  • Performance Improvements — This included how OptimizeMember loads in the LiveEditor, WordPress pages and WordPress posts. These were minor tweaks but overall the functionality is quicker when it comes to assign protection, adding levels, adding packages and third party integrations.
  • Added ClickBank pitch plus recurring feature — This allows you to sell recurring payment products during the upsell process in Clickbank.
  • Updated Clickbank API — Integration of ClickBank API version 6 as version 2.1 will be deprecated.
  • Added get_levels method to remote API — This was an additional feature for the recent Samcart integration allowing them to pull in OptimizeMember levels into their platform.

So there you have it! There’s were lots and lots of other minor tweaks and some bug fixes all of which have improved the platforms performance.

Next time you are building a new landing page and you think of a new feature ask yourself…

«Would other OptimizePress users would benefit?»

Then tell us about it.
